Receive a greater number of BESPONSA treatment cycles Your doctor should perform liver tests periodically during treatment, and may modify or stop your treatment with BESPONSA. Tell your doctor about all of the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.. Besponsa is given as an infusion (drip) into a vein lasting for at least one hour. The infusions are given on days 1, 8 and 15 of a 3 or 4 week treatment cycle.. For patients proceeding to HSCT, the recommended duration of treatment with BESPONSA is 2 cycles. A third cycle may be considered for patients who do not achieve a CR or CRi and MRD-negativity after 2 cycles. Monitor liver tests closely during the first month post HSCT, then less frequently thereafter, according to standard medical practice.. For patients proceeding to hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT), the recommended duration of treatment with Besponsa is 2 cycles. A third cycle may be considered for those patients who do not achieve CR or CRi and minimal residual disease (MRD) negativity after 2 cycles [see Warnings and Precautions (5.1)].. An analysis of the first 218 patients treated showed that after at least 2 cycles of treatment, 81% (88 out of 109) of patients receiving Besponsa responded to treatment compared with 29% (32 out of 109) of patients receiving other chemotherapy. Patients who responded to treatment could proceed to have a stem cell transplant.. For the first cycle, the recommended total dose of BESPONSA for all patients is 1.8 mg/m 2 per cycle, given as 3 divided doses on Days 1 (0.8 mg/m 2), 8 (0.5 mg/m 2), and 15 (0.5 mg/m 2). Cycle 1 is 3 weeks in duration but may be extended to 4 weeks if the patient achieves a CR or CRi, and/or to allow recovery from toxicity..
